9 Days. 3 Phases. One Big Reset: My Medical Medium 3:6:9 Cleanse Experience
What nine days of raw, vegan, fat-free eating taught me about commitment, cravings, preparation—and giving my body a reset.

If you’ve ever opened Cleanse to Heal by Medical Medium, you know there is A LOT to take in.
The protocols. The recipes. The shopping. The lemon water. The celery juice. The smoothies. And, yes, so much chopping.
I’ve spent more than a decade reading, learning and exploring different approaches to wellness. Medical Medium information has been especially influential in shaping many of the daily practices I’ve incorporated into my own life.
But reading about the Medical Medium 3:6:9 Cleanse and actually doing one are two very different things.
So I decided to take you along for the ride.
WHAT IS THE 3:6:9 CLEANSE?
The 3:6:9 Liver Rescue Cleanse is a nine-day protocol outlined by Medical Medium. The nine days are divided into three phases, with foods and routines changing as you progress.
My biggest advice? Take it one day at a time.
Thinking about nine full days can feel daunting. Thinking about what you need to do today is much more manageable.
And that became my mindset throughout the cleanse.
DAYS 1–3: GETTING INTO THE GROOVE
Getting through the first phase is crucial.
Your body and maybe even more importantly, your brain is adjusting to nine days of raw, vegan and fat-free eating.
And I’ll tell you: eating a fat-free cauliflower bowl while your family is outside grilling dinner definitely requires commitment!
My mornings started with: 32 oz. warm lemon water
Then, at least 15 minutes later:n 24 oz. celery juice
And finally: The Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie

The morning routine alone took close to an hour, so my first practical piece of advice is simple:
Plan for it.
Once I got through the morning routine, I felt great. I even attended a warm yoga class and had solid energy throughout the morning.
My mid-morning snack was an apple, which quickly became something I genuinely looked forward to every day.
LUNCH: A LITTLE IMPROVISING
The prescribed lunch included spinach soup. Full disclosure: I don't love it.
I know that may be an unpopular opinion in the Medical Medium community!
So after looking into alternatives within the protocol, I made a spinach, orange, papaya and mango smoothie with coconut water and banana. Delicious.
Dinner was a cauliflower greens bowl. It was good but preparation took nearly an hour.
That became another recurring theme: This cleanse requires preparation.
Day one ended with a small headache after going without my usual salt, added sugar and caffeine. But by halfway through day two, I was going strong and already felt lighter and less bloated.
Seven more days still sounded like a lot. So I stopped thinking about seven days. Just today.
DAYS 4–6: HALFWAY!
Four and a half days in. HALFWAY.
There was definitely a feeling of accomplishment and also a moment of:
Wait...I have to do ALL of that again?! 😩
But truthfully, it wasn't nearly as bad as I had imagined.
My energy was good, I wasn't overly hungry, and by this point I wasn't experiencing the same cravings for salty or sugary foods.
The morning routine increased to 32 oz. lemon water followed by 32 oz. celery juice.
Yes. That is a LOT of liquid first thing in the morning. Plan accordingly. 😉
Lunch included the Liver Rescue Smoothie, which honestly felt like dessert.
I still found myself craving something warm and cooked, not necessarily because I was starving, but because food is about more than hunger. There is comfort in food. There is routine in food.
Nine days makes you realize how often we eat because we're bored, because something smells good, because everyone else is eating or simply because it's what we normally do.
By the halfway point, my energy remained strong and I felt noticeably less bloated. That feeling became a huge motivator to keep going. Then it was back to the grocery store to prepare for the final stretch.
Nori wraps were coming. And so was the BIG juice day.
DAYS 7–9: THE FINAL PUSH
The last phase went about as smoothly as I could have hoped, but it also reminded me to listen to my body. During day seven, we were experiencing a significant heat wave, and I decided to go for a morning walk. Bad idea. I came home overheated and completely run down. I had underestimated both the heat and the cumulative effect of the previous six days.
There was a moment when I genuinely wasn't sure I was going to make it to day eight.
And here's something I think is important to say:
I've started and not finished more cleanses than I've completed.
And I refuse to beat myself up over that. Any amount of time I intentionally spend eating more fruits, vegetables and whole foods is something I choose to view as a win.
But when you DO finish? There is something pretty incredible about it. I compared it to running the Cincinnati Half Marathon without stopping. You get to the end and realize: I did that.
Although after the half marathon, family and friends were waiting at the finish line cheering.
After nine days of cleansing, it would have been really nice to have a cheering squad waiting when I woke up on day 10! Maybe we need to work on that. 😉
Day eight brought some fatigue.
And then came day nine the juice day.
After eight days of preparation, chopping, blending, salads, smoothies and produce everywhere, a day filled with fresh juices helped carry me across the finish line.
And then...DAY 10. I had made it.

WHAT I TOOK AWAY FROM MY 3:6:9 CLEANSE
My goal going into the cleanse was simple. I wanted to feel lighter. I wanted to sleep better. I wanted to feel less bloated and give myself a period of very intentional eating.
Beyond how I physically felt, the experience reminded me how powerful it can be to intentionally step away from our normal routines.
Nine days makes you pay attention. You notice your cravings. You notice how much food is connected to convenience.
You notice how often you reach for something simply because it's there. And you realize how much planning goes into eating differently. But it doesn't have to be all or nothing.
Start with one practice.
Then another. Layer in what works for you, at your own pace.
That's exactly the philosophy we want to bring to Green Farm.

YOUR DAY 10 CHEERING SQUAD 💚
Perhaps my favorite thing to come out of this experience is the idea that wellness doesn't have to be something we pursue alone. Nine days can feel long. Day eight can feel REALLY long.
But knowing there are other people doing it alongside you changes things.
At Green Farm, we're continuing to learn and explore how we can provide more resources for customers interested in Medical Medium-inspired practices and guided cleanse experiences.
Our goal isn't to make wellness more complicated. It's to make it feel more doable
.
One day.
One juice.
One smoothie.
One new habit at a time.
And when you finally wake up on day 10?
We'll be your cheering squad. 💚
